Short description of the proposed topic

The rapid and sustained penetration of distributed energy resources driven by global decarbonization targets is fundamentally reshaping modern power systems. Microgrids provide an effective framework for coordinating heterogeneous distributed resources, improving local energy efficiency, operational flexibility, resilience, and energy self-sufficiency. With the evolution toward multi-energy and multi-microgrid systems, however, microgrid operation is becoming increasingly complex due to renewable generation uncertainty, cross-carrier energy coupling, interactions between energy and material flows, distribution network-microgrid coordination, and inter-microgrid cooperation.

This special session is dedicated to exploring advanced modeling, operation, control, and trading methods for intelligent and low-carbon microgrids. It aims to enhance operational efficiency, security, resilience, and sustainability while enabling the scalable integration of heterogeneous distributed energy resources.

About the organizers

Dr. Yu Wang is a Hongshen Outstanding Professor in Chongqing University. He has been selected for the "National-Level Young Talent Program" and the European Union's "Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship" program. He has published over 100 papers in international journals and conferences. He serves as an editorial board member for international journals such as MPCE, IET GTD, and IET RPG, and Secretary of the IEEE PES Energy Internet Coordination Committee Working Group, Member of the New Energy and Energy Storage Systems Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, and Member of the Smart Microgrid Committee of the Chinese Energy Society. He has been recognized as a Web of Science Highly Cited Researcher (top 1%) and included in the list of the World's Top 2% Scientists. His research focuses on power system dynamics and control, microgrid and distributed energy resources, and cyber-physical power system security.

 

Dr. Yunyang Zou received the B.E. and M.E. degrees from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 2014 and 2017, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in 2024. From 2017 to 2020, he was an Electrical Engineer with State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company, Chongqing, China. From 2024 to 2026, he was a Research Fellow with Nanyang Technological University. He is currently an Associate Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, Chongqing University, Chongqing, China. His research interests include electricity markets, renewable-energy distribution systems, and multi-energy systems.

 

Prof. Uzbekov Mirsoli Odiljonovich is affiliated with the Faculty of Energy (Department of Electrical Engineering, Electromechanics and Electrotechnology) at Fergana State Technical University, where he conducts research in solar energy and photovoltaic systems. His scientific work focuses on modeling photovoltaic systems, improving voltage control mechanisms, and assessing the technical condition of oil power transformers in electric power transmission networks. He is an author and co-author of a number of publications in international scientific journals, including the International Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems. His research also extends to topics such as the analysis of hydropower resources in Uzbekistan. Uzbekov M.O. has been actively involved in organizing the international scientific-practical conferences on "Solar Energy" held by Fergana State Technical University, reflecting his contribution to advancing cooperation and knowledge exchange in the field of solar energy both within Uzbekistan and internationally.

 

Prof. Kuchkarov Akmaljon Akhmadalievich works as a professor at Fergana State Technical University. His research covers solar energy, including linear Fresnel concentrators, solar water desalination systems, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies of the thermal and hydrodynamic performance of photovoltaic panels. His work includes numerical modeling of dust deposition on photovoltaic panel surfaces based on the Spalart–Allmaras turbulence model, as well as mathematical modeling of multi-junction photoelectric converters. He has published several articles in respected scientific journals such as Applied Solar Energy and E3S Web of Conferences. Kuchkarov A.A. also serves as Secretary of the international "Solar Energy" conference organized by Fergana State Technical University, playing an important role in coordinating its organizational and scientific processes.

 

Prof. Nilufar Rabbanakulovna Avezova is a Doctor of Technical Sciences (DSc) and Senior Professor at Fergana State Technical University, and a leading expert in Uzbekistan in renewable energy, solar energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon energy systems. She has published more than 200 scientific papers and holds over 20 patents, including international patents. She currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Springer Nature journal Power Technology and Engineering and previously served as Editor-in-Chief of Geliotekhnika / Applied Solar Energy. She is also an editorial board member and reviewer for leading international journals, including Renewable Energy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Solar Energy, and Journal of Building Engineering. Prof. Avezova has supervised 4 DSc and 6 PhD dissertations and has made significant contributions to the development of renewable-energy science and policy in Uzbekistan. She was the lead developer of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Renewable Energy Sources”, one of the developers of the Law “On Science and Scientific Activity,” and contributed to the development of more than 10 state standards and three building codes and regulations in renewable energy and energy efficiency. She has led and participated in numerous international projects supported by UNDP, UNICEF, SATREPS, UNEP, ADB, and GIZ, and has received several state and academic awards for her scientific achievements. Her research focuses on renewable and low-carbon energy systems, solar photovoltaic and thermal energy, hybrid and multi-energy systems, energy storage, heat pumps, energy efficiency, renewable generation forecasting, and energy decarbonization.

 

Prof. Sirojiddin Fayozovich Ergashev is a Doctor of Sciences (DSc) and Professor at Fergana State Technical University (FSTU), specializing in renewable energy systems, small hydropower (Micro HPP), hybrid wind-solar PV systems, and life cycle management of engineering products. His research focuses on the design, modeling, optimization, and life cycle assessment of renewable-energy technologies, as well as UAV and edge-computing applications for monitoring and the integration of distributed renewable energy sources into local grids. Prof. Ergashev has authored textbooks, monographs, and numerous scientific publications and has extensive experience in academic teaching and international project management. He has served as an institutional coordinator for European Union Erasmus+ initiatives, including the DIGI4ENERGYS project and Jean Monnet Modules. His current research interests include digital twins and IoT-based monitoring for micro-hydropower plants, hybrid renewable microgrids, UAV-assisted monitoring, and life cycle management of green-energy technologies.
